Fantastic sailing at Zipfer Trophy

Again the forecast proved to be wrong, the Zipfer Trophy organization managed to run another three races in a decreasing wind over the day from 13 to 6 knots all around the day, even shortening the last race at the upwind fearing a wind bailout. Team AUT 7 the local lake heroes with Florian Felzmann, Margund Schuh and Michael Felzmann were the best overall taking the championship lead out from team UNIOR UKR 1 with Igor Yushko, Sergey Pichuguin and Sergey Ivansits. Three races in at the Zipfer Trophy despite the bad weather forecast.

The experienced Gert Schmidleitner this Friday under the clouds and a weird NorthEast wind condition from 5 to 10 knots managed first to complete a short race with only two laps, then a second without the shortening but lighter wind and again a shorter race for the third one of the day. 28 teams from 6 different countries joined the Zipfer Trophy organized by the traditional UYCAs at the Attersee lake in Austria. Open Dutch Championship 17/18 August Location Medemblik

As usual for an event of this magnitude many Soling-teams were preparing themselves to have a final big event leading to the Worlds to be held in France. The organization of the event was done by the Dutch class organization and of course we all expected, considered the last experience in Medemblik, nothing but the best. La Baule Open 2019 - the experience has spoken!

The YCLB, which will soon host the World Championship, organized its Sport Keelboat Open, an event that brings together each year boats from four series (Soling, Dragon, Requin and Tofinou). It was also the venue for the 2019 Soling French National. Difficult shifty westerly at Kingston bay

Winds with different velocities from 12 to 17 knots coming from 320 nicely hiking mode, flat water the Soling North American Championship started at 1100 in a champagne mode with sun shining and the whole fleet crossing the Kingston bay looking after the orange mark 1 placed just in front the Lake Ontario park. CORK race committee hoisted the D flag early for the Soling class, and sent the teams early to the race course, first race started at 1100 with a nice 15-18 knots breeze from 275 degrees, the short waves building up, NED 33 (den Outer, de Lange and Bosch) which started close to the race committee, were smoking and on fire rounding the weather mark first followed by CAN 225 ( Hall, Hall and McNeil), the race finished with GER 1 (Koch, Kling and Neun) managing to keep the third place after three ...  read more
