At past weekend the Argentine Championship, last ranked event of the year was concluded by the Club Nautico San Isidro, with a good attendance of 9 boats, one of them visitors from Uruguay (YCU), but more important more than 50% of the fleet were young sailors under 24 years old, mainly around 20.
The event had six races in which three of them sailed with 15 to 20 knots of wind from the South, shifty and gusty and the last three of them with 9 to 13 knots in a lumpy and veering day from South to East wind.
The leader overall was ARG 2 Gustavo Warburg, Hernan Celedoni and Diego Weppler, with all their veteran experience, even sailing a borrowed boat (good one available for rental next Worlds in Brazil) having finishes like 1,1,1,2,1 and a DNS on last race, this because their Sheriff horse ARG 32 was lent to his son Federico Warburg(20) sailing with Gaspar Burg(19) and Agustin Amblar(19) and they were the team to show off, with an average of 200 Kg in total performed really well on the windy day and even better on the lighter day obtaining the finishes 7,2,3,1,2,3 enough to to overtake by two points after the discard veteran and class secretary Matias Collins sailing Cyclope USA 853 with his new troop Joaquin Jordana(21), Gonzalo Celedoni(17) – “Conversation themes have changed radically onboard” said MC, their finishes started with a 2,4,2 and then on the lighter day 6,3,2 after losing the last race , this remembered them about the past South American Championship where they also lost the bullet on the last race, but this one was event worst, on the last minute being overtaken by ARG 3 sailed by Matias Roldan(24), Inaki Caviglia(22) and Pedro Paulo Pinto(21) at the downwind, meters from the finish, a sour taste for one team ahead but a nice sensation for the moustache team coming from behind…
The event had two social events, basically two BBQs, as tradition already, time where the young's were enthusiast talking about the maneuvers under the gusts on Saturday, the Soling is one more equipment for them, after this they continue to sail their different classes, some like Federico focusing the LA games in 470 under coaching every week, next time we should see his crew sailing also a Soling to join at the event the other two ladies like Catalina Cherro(17) at the bow of ARG 37 sailing with Cherro and Lopez and Ines Prota(17) the young skipper of the Uruguaian boat URU 24 sailing with Roberto R. and Santiago Prota.
At this event a young team coming from the Southern part of Buenos Aires also took part, and instead trailering the boat, they decided to sail the 40 miles, CUBA hosted them midway before the races.
The Argentine Soling Association thanks the Club Nautico San Isidro, all the participants the owner of ARG 39 who lent his boat, the predisposition of all "kids" to sail even when some were still with their final exams, a special thanks to Mario the club worker who organized the first BBQ.

The Argentine class in the upcoming two weeks will be drawing their napkin with the dates for 2025 in which they will organize the South American Championship, probably in conjunction with the traditional SIL event of the CNSI.
