will take place at Circolo Vela Torbole, Lake Garda, Italy from August 31st to September 4th 2003</center>

1. Organising authority
The organising authority is the International Soling Class (ISA) in conjunction with the Circolo Vela Torbole.

2. Rules
2.1 The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2001 – 2004
2.2 The prescriptions of the Italian National Authority will not apply
2.3 The ISA Championship Rules, as modified by this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions , will apply.
2.4 Variations from the RRS:
RRS 42.3 (b) is modified by ISA Class Rule C.9.1 as follows: RRS 42.3(b) is changed by the ISA Class Rules to: “Pumping of the spinnaker guy is permitted at all times without restriction. In this part of the Rule “pumping of the spinnaker guy” means repeatedly trimming and releasing the guy by any means. In addition, except on a beat to windward, when surfing (rapidly accelerating down the leeward side of a wave) or planing is possible, the crew may pump the sheet controlling any sail in order to initiate surfing or planing, but nor more than twice for each wave or gust of wind.”
2.5 Amendments to any of the rules applying to the regatta must be approved and signed by the ISA Liaison Officer appointed for the event.

3. Advertising category
The regatta is designated Category C under RRS Appendix 1.

4. Entries
4.1 The regatta is open to all yachts of the International Soling Class as prescribed in Championship Rule 4.1 – Eligibility.
4.2 Final entries, sent on the official Entry Form (see Attachment 2), shall be received at the Circolo Vela Torbole by August 23rd 2003.

5. Eligibility
ISA Membership is obligatory for all crew members. Membership fees (£20.00 for helm or crew) will be collected from any crew member failing to present proof of previously paid membership fee. An additional amount of £20.00 will be obtained from the helmsman or representative of any yacht not displaying the ISA sticker of the current year at the appropriate position. (Membership cards and boat stickers may be purchased from the regatta office.)
5.2 Eligibility for the Masters World Championship being run currently with the European Championship:
The helmsman must be at least 50 years old, and the combined ages of the crew must be at least 120 years.


6. Registration
The Race Office at Circolo Vela Torbole, will be open for registration from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday August 31st. Sailing Instructions will be available at registration. The declaration on the Entry Form must be signed on registration.

7. Entry Fee
The entry fee will be 450.€ and may be paid by Cash or Credit Card on registration.
The entry fee includes Craning, Mooring Welcome/Opening Ceremony, Prize Giving Ceremony, Gala Dinner, Beer Party, Tee Shirt to every Competitor, Car and Trailer Parking. In addition to the entry fee each competitor shall pay a championship due of £35.00 to the ISA

8. Measurement
Yachts will be measured in accordance with ISA Championship Rule 7.0 Measuring and the Class Rules (Regarding Class Rule C.8.2. two spinnakers of either size may be measured in.) For a yacht to be eligible to race, her valid (the original or a copy of the original) Measurement Form shall be presented at the Race Office, and the helmsman must have satisfied all measurement and registration requirements as specified in this Notice of Race including the submission (at the completion of measurement) of properly completed measurement work sheets. If the Measurement Form cannot be produced before the first race, RRS 78.2 will be applied.

9. Course area
The Course Area is the northern part of Lake Garda limited by Trentino’s regional border.

10. Schedule of races
10.1 Racing is scheduled as follows:
31.08.2003 Sunday Measurements and on course training session
01.09.2003/03.09.2003 2 Races a day
04.09.2003. Thursday 1 Race

10.2 The time of the first warning signal each day will be indicated on the Race Notice Board not later than 6 p.m. of the prior day.
10.3 7 (seven) races are scheduled of which 5 must be completed to constitute a valid championship (1 discard from the 5th Race).

11. Scoring System
The Low Points Scoring System of RRS A4 will apply.

12. Alterations to the Racing Rules:
In addition to the alteration given in 2.4 above, the Sailing Instructions will alter the following rules: 28.1, 32, 35, 42.3(b), 60.1(a), 61.3, 62.2, A4.1, A4.2 and Race Signals AP and S.

14. Denial of the Right to Appeal
An International Jury will be appointed in accordance with RRS App M. Their decisions will be final and not subject to appeal in accordance with RRS 70.4.

15. Liability
Competitors compete at their own risk and responsibility. Every yacht must be in possession of a valid third party liability insurance cover of not less than 516.000,00 Euro for the duration of the regatta. Proof of this must be presented on registration.

16. Social events
Opening Ceremony and Buffet - Monday September 1st at 5 pm
Gala Dinner – Tuesday September 2nd at 8 pm on the Clubhouse terrace
Beer Party – Wednesday September 3rd at end of races
Prize Giving Ceremony and Cocktail Thursday September 4th at 5 pm

17. Accommodation
Participants are recommended to book their accommodation at one of the Club’s recommended hotels.
