THE SOLING EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2011
will take place at Segelclub Kammersee (SCK), Lake Attersee, Austria
from 27 August to 02 September 2011

Organising authority
The organising authority is the International Soling Class (ISA) in conjunction with the Segelclub Kammersee.

1. Rules
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 The prescriptions of the National Authority (Austrian Sailing Federation) will not apply.
1.3 The ISA Class and Championship Rules will apply.
1.4 The following racing rules will be changed: 28.1, 32, 35, 42.3(c), 60.1(a), 61.3, 62.2, A4.1, A4.2 and Race Signals AP and S. The changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions. The Sailing Instructions may also change other racing rules.
1.5 Amendments to any of the rules applying to the regatta must be approved and signed by the ISA Liaison Officer appointed for the event.

2. Advertising
In accordance with ISAF Regulation 20 (Advertising Code), boats may be required to display the advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

3. Eligibility and Entry
3.1 The regatta is open to all yachts of the International Soling Class as prescribed in Championship Rule 4 – Eligibility.
3.2 ISA Membership is obligatory for all crew members. Membership fees will be collected from any crew member failing to present proof of previously paid membership fee.
3.3 It is also required that all yachts entering display the ISA sticker for the current year. An additional amount will be collected from the helmsman or representative of any yacht not displaying the ISA sticker of the current year at the appropriate position.
3.4 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry forms on the event website www.solingeuropeans.com no later than 07 August 2011 and completing registration and payment of all fees. Late Entries may be accepted only by the discretion of SCK Online entries and payments done before 07 August 2011 on the event website will receive a discount at the entry fee of € 50,00 from € 450 to € 400.

4. Classification
The ISAF Sailor Classification Code will apply.

5. Fees
5.1. The entry fee will be € 450 (€ 400 when paid before 07 August 2011) and may be paid by cash or by bank transfer. The entry fee includes up to two boat launching and up to two removal by crane (except in emergency situation), trailer storage, vehicle parking, mooring, and two or more event meals. It also includes the ISA Championship Fee of € 75.
5.2. The entry fee for teams travelling from overseas will be € 400 even if paid after 07 August 2010. The entry fee for teams where the aggregate ages of the crew of three does not exceed 80 years on the first day of racing will be € 200,00, including € 37,50 ISA Championship Fee.

6. Registration
The Race Office at SCK will be open for registration on 27 August and 28 August 2011 between 0900hs and 1730hs each day.

7. Schedule
7.1 Measurement and inspection will take place at SCK on 27 August and 28 August 2011 between 0900hs and 1730hs each day.
Early measurement of boat and rig can be made on 17 August 2011 between 1000hs and 1800hs at Union Yacht Club Attersee in advance of the International Austrian Soling Championship (about 3nm from SCK) .
Late Measurement only after agreement with measurer: 29 August 2011 0900hs – 1100hs.
7.2 Racing is scheduled as follows:
29 Aug 2011: First start at 1300hs, 2 races planned
30 Aug 2011: 2 races planned
31 Aug 2011: 2 races planned
01 Sept 2011: 2 race planned
02 Sept 2011: 1 race planned
7.3 The first warning signal each day will be at 1030hs.
7.4 Two races are planned on each racing day except on the last day. A maximum of 4 races in one day is allowed but only to bring back racing schedule as original plan and never to be ahead of the one.
7.5 On the last day of the regatta (02 September 2011), with a valid championship no warning signal will be made after 1400hs, without a valid championship the last warning signal limitation will be extended up to 1700hs only to validate the championship.

8. Measurement
Yachts will be measured in accordance with ISA Championship Rule 7.0 Measuring and Class Rules 16 and 17. For a yacht to be eligible to race, her valid (the original or a copy of the original) Measurement Form shall be presented at the Race Office, and the helmsman must have satisfied all measurement and registration requirements as specified in this Notice of Race including the submission (at the completion of measurement) of properly completed measurement work sheets. If the Measurement Form cannot be produced before the first race, RRS 78.2 will be applied.

9. Sailing instructions
Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.

10. Course area
The course area is in Lake Attersee, preferred in front of SCK.

11. The courses
Standard ISA Championship courses will be used.

12. Penalty system
12.1 The Two-Turns Penalty, rule 44.2, will apply.
12.2 An International Jury will be appointed in accordance with RRS Appendix N. Their decisions will be final and not subject to appeal in accordance with RRS 70. 5.

13. Scoring
13.1 The Low Points Scoring System of RRS A4 will apply.
13.2 9 races are scheduled of which 5 must be completed to constitute a valid championship.
13.3 a) When fewer than 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
b) When 6 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

14. Prizes
- The European Championship Perpetual Trophy - donated by the Royal Danish Yacht Club “with the intention of bringing together as many competitors of various nationalities as possible for yacht racing in a friendly spirit”.
- The Royal Yacht Club of Sweden has also donated a trophy for the European Champion.
- The British Soling Association Trophy - donated by the British Soling Association and awarded to the best-placed helmsman aged 25 years or under on the first scheduled day of racing.
- Rien Segaar Trophy – donated by the Segaar Family (NED) with the intention to award those in the middle fleet who makes the best effort to improve their country scores. Awarded to the last of the best, the third team of a country which the aggregate final scores of the three best are lower than the other countries see Deed of gift at the championship rules:
- Reloaded Trophy – donated by the ASF (Norway) with the intention to bring as many women into the Soling competition - awarded to the best-placed woman in the event.
- SCK will present prizes to be awarded to the first 5 boats overall and individual prizes for the winner of each race.

15. Disclaimer of liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority, ISA, SCK, their officers, members and volunteers will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. Competitors agree that photographs or videos of participating sailors and boats may be taken during the regatta which may be published without restrictions (e.g. press releases, event promotion, etc.). Competitors explicitly agree that their personal data may be saved and used by ISA and SCK for its own purpose, but shall not be passed on to third parties except sponsors.

16. Insurance
Each participating boat shall have adequate insurance cover specifically including third party liability cover while racing of at least €1.500.000 or the equivalent in the currency of the country of registration of the boat, for the duration of the regatta. To keep this amount sailor who cannot prove an adequate insurance cover will be able to acquire a short term policy for this event during registration and or upgrade their own insurance policy.
