[DP] – The notation of DP in a rule in the Notice of Race (NoR) means that the penalty for a breach of that rule may, at the discretion of the protest committee, be less than disqualification.

1. Rules
1.1 The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
1.2 The prescriptions of Sail Canada will apply and will be posted in full on the Official Notice Board.
1.3 The Soling Class Rule C 9.1 will apply C.9 Additional Rules C.9.1 As permitted by RRS 86.1(c), RRS 42.3(c) is altered to: Except on a beat to windward, when surfing (rapidly accelerating down the leeward side of a wave), or planing is possible, the crew may pull the sheet controlling any sail in order to initiate surfing or planing, but not more than twice for each wave or gust of wind. The pumping of the main sheet directly from the mainsheet boom block is permitted. In addition, pumping of the spinnaker guy is permitted at all times without restriction. In this part of the Rule “pumping the spinnaker guy” means repeatedly trimming and releasing the guy by any means. Moving the body as reasonably necessary to pump the guy is permitted and shall not be considered to be ooching (see RRS 42.2 (c)), nor shall any rolling of the boat caused by such reasonably necessary movements be considered rocking (see RRS 42.2 (b)).

2. Advertising
2.1 Boats may be required to display Event Advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. If this rule is broken, World Sailing Regulation 20.9.2 applies. [DP]

3. Eligibility, Entries, Registration
3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the three major one design keel boat classes sailed by 2 nd ANNUAL HANS FOGH ONE DESIGN REGATTA June 7 – 9, 2019 Organizing Authority – Royal Hamilton Yacht Club Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
3.2 Eligible boats may enter be completing the Official Online Entry Form. https://www.regattatoolbox.com/eventDetails?eventID=tJCEsUb4OH
3.3 A minimum of 5 boats is required for each class to participate. Subject to review by Organizing Committee.

4. Fees
4.1 Required fees are as follows: Class Fee (CAD) Star $250 Etchells $300 Solings $300
4.2 There is a $50 CAD discount if fees are received prior to May 24th, 2019.
4.3 Required fee includes boat and trailer parking, launching and hauling as well as all scheduled social functions for skipper and crew.
4.4 Additional dinner tickets Saturday night will be available for purchase.

5. Schedule
The regatta will be a 3-day event for the Soling and Etchells and Star classes, sailing from Friday June 7 to Sunday June 9, 2019.
5.1 Registration: Will be open for all classes: Thursday June 6, 2019 1800h – 2000h Friday June 7, 2019 0800h – 0900h
5.2 8 races are scheduled.
5.3 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is 1030h.
5.4 On the last scheduled day of racing, no warning signal will be made after 1400h.

6. Measurement

6.2 Crews will not be required to demonstrate compliance with any formulas regarding maximum crew weights in any of the three classes.

7. Sailing Instructions
7.1 The Sailing Instructions will be available online prior to registration and at registration.

8. Venue
8.1 Racing will be conducted on Hamilton Bay.

9. Courses
9.1 The courses to be sailed will be windward/leeward with 4 or 5 legs.
9.2 The target time for each race is approximately 60 – 75 minutes.
9.3 An offset mark at the weather mark will be used. Exceptions will be described in the Sailing Instructions
9.4 A gate at the leeward mark will be used. Exceptions will be described in the Sailing Instructions.

10. Penalty System
10.1 For the Etchells class, RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two Turns-Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.

11. Scoring
11.1 Three (3) races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
11.2 The Low Point Scoring System, RRS Appendix A, will apply, modified so that each series score will be the total of her races scores with her worst score excluded if more than five (5) races are completed.

12. Support Boats
12.1 Team leaders, coaches and other support personnel intending to be on the water during the regatta, shall register with the organizing authority and display the numbered flag provided by the organizing authority.
12.2 Support boats will be assigned a berth or mooring area for the duration of the regatta. 13. Berthing
13.1 Solings & Etchells shall be kept in their assigned places in the RHYC Harbour commencing at 0900h on June 7, 2019 until the conclusion of racing. [DP]

14. Haul-out Restrictions
14.1 Solings & Etchells shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the race committee. [DP]
14.2 Stars will haul out each evening.

15. Radio Communication
15.1 Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats. [DP]
15.2 The race committee may choose to make VHF radio communications to the fleet on a channel to be announced in the sailing instructions. It is strongly encouraged that each boat have a VHF radio on board capable of receiving these communications.

16. Prizes
16.1 Prizes will be awarded to the first three (3) teams in each class with a perpetual trophy awarded to the winner of the each of the Star, Etchells and Soling classes.
16.2 The Star boat with the best score in the Star class will be declared the 2019 Star Eastern Canadian Champion.
16.3 The Soling boat with the best score in the Soling class will be declared the 2019 Soling Canadian Champion.
16.4 The Etchells boat with the best score in the Etchells class will be declared the 2019 Lake Ontario Champion.

17. Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.

18. Insurance
