Being a relative newbie to sailing, though I learned on a sunfish as a scout 35 years ago on a small like in northern Wisconsin, it's rare that a person's sailing experience is almost all on single lake let alone Lake Michigan on a Soling.
Lake Michigan Soling is special. The Lake can be clam and beg for a dip on hot July day or be whipped up like the Atlantic in a nor-easter in October for the Wednesday Night Off Shore fall series.
August is one of the best months for steady wind and warm sunny breezy days with the beginnings of crisp cool nights that lead up to Labor Day and beyond into fall.

My past 7 years on a Soiling on Lake Michigan has been incredible; the wind, the waves, the fog, the rain, the sun, the annual McNulty regatta, the 2012 Worlds, the last race of early year the Dolphin Championship, and the countless beautiful sunsets and moon rises. You cannot be sure of what weather you will get on a given day but one thing is for sure... any time spent on Lake Michigan will have a special spot in your memory that will be very hard to forget.
