Once more Kingston proved to be a great area for sailing, four racing days, fantastic winds, great race management and CORK week had the Solings back in their waters for their 50th Anniversary and 2019 Soling North American Championship where 4 nationalities took part at the event; Three sailors sailing were also sailing in the first edition of the CORK week and even one event before for the Dragon trials. Bill Abbott, Peter Hall & John Vines.

Today the two last races of the championship were held, total of 10 races with 5 boats taking bullets. NED 33 was on fire finding every little shift, always a bit to the left, in the nice 12 to 15 knot breeze, sun and champagne sailing, today without the late storm showers to mess up with clothes and also the boat packing after race.
CAN 1 Bill Abbott, Paul Davis and Joanne Abbott despite all their attempts, couldn't damage the Dutch confidence who keep sailing at the front leading the pack no matter the circumstances. CAN 225 Peter Hall, William Hall and Scott McNeil did sail well but placed two thirds to consolidate the podium.

CAN 236 with Bill Haliburton, Terry Booth and Bryan Milne were the winners of the red fleet, taking home the Van Dyke trophy forgotten at home by super crazy Dave who had updated it with all new all plaques made of sterling silver which will last for another ten years. This was thanks to the generous help of Charlie Kamps & Henry Thomas.
It was the first time in history a North American Championship is won by a European team, the Dutch names to be engraved in the nicest Trophy in NA for the Soling class.

Next NA event to be hosted in Annapolis at the Severn Sailing Association around April/May next 2020, forecasting the Worlds that will be hosted by the Milwaukee Yacht Club.
